All too soon, Valentine’s Day is here again and, as expected, many will take the opportunity to give their loved ones a nice treat.
This is a season of love and it is only right that every couple gets involved and share some romantic moments.
But if you have not decided on what you’ll be doing yet, then maybe it’s time to take a cue from those who have been at this stage before.
Love is often complicated, but there are some prominent Ghanaian couples who have found a way to keep theirs going for many, many years.
So, as Val’s day approaches, let’s take a look at some Ghanaian couples you should aspire to be like:
1. Rawlings and Konadu
Former president Jerry John Rawlings and his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, are perhaps the most iconic couple in the country.
Rawlings and Konadu have been married since 1977 and are blessed with three amazing and successful children.
The couple have never for once washed their dirty linens in public and their relationship has only grown stronger and stronger.
This is definitely a couple you and your partner should aspire to be as we mark Val’s day.
2. Okyeame Kwame and Annica
Another Ghanaian couple that is very worthy of emulation is rapper Okyeame Kwame and wife, Annica Nsiah-Apau.
The couple marked the 10th year of their marriage in February with some wonderful photos detailing their journey so far.
Okyeame Kwame and Annica are still a young couple, but it is fair to say they have demonstrated a lot of maturity in their marriage life.
As far as relationships go, they are so worthy of emulation and that’s even an understatement.
3. Pastor Otabil and Joy
Many people know of Pastor Mensa Otabil as the founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) but know very little about his wife.
Pastor Otabil is married to Joy Otabil, with the pair getting married over three decades ago (in 1986).
The couple is also blessed with four children and have both inspired so many people with their deeds.
4. Ace Ankomah and Josephine
As far as iconic Ghanaian couple go, you cannot leave out private legal practitioner Ace Anan Ankomah and his wife.
Although Mrs. Ankomah is not usually heard of in the media like her husband, she is known to be a true inspiration.
In fact, on her 50th birthday, Ace Ankomah wrote her a long romantic letter to prove his love for her.
How many young lovers even think of doing that? As we mark Val’s day, the lawyer and his wife are surely one to aspire to be like.
5. Kufuor and Theresa
The last but not the lease Ghanaian couple you should look to emulate is former president John Agyekum Kufuor and his wife Theresa Kufuor.
The couple has been married since 1962, but not for once have they been hit by a scandal in the public.
Kufuor and Theresa are blessed with five children whom they raised very well. This is a couple that has been married for more than 50 years. It doesn’t come any better!
