4th Annual Chale Wote Street Art Festival on August 23

The fourth annual Chale Wote Street Art Festival takes place in James Town on August 23-24, 2014 in Accra.

The event is being organised by ACCRA.ALT in collaboration with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Redd Kat Pictures, Institut Français, The Foundation for Contemporary Art Ghana, Dr Monk, No Limits Charity and The Attukwei Art Foundation.

The third edition of the Chale Wote Street Art Festival held on September 7-8, 2013 was a major success and the collective effort of many young people ranging from artists, musicians and writers to designers, students and activists, who worked together to produce West Africa’s only street art festival.

The two-day festival included graffiti murals, film screenings, theatre, installations, live music performances, a fashion circus, extreme sports stunting, dance, spoken word and art workshops.

The festival drew over 3,000 people last year and this year, more people are expected to attend this fourth edition.

More than 120 artists are taking part in this year’s two-day festival.

Eight international artists from South Africa, France, U.S and the UK and Denmark would feature their work at Chale Wote 2013.

Thirty Ghanaian visual artists would erect cutting edge exhibitions of their work on High Street.

Some of the activities include a two-day film screenings, the Accra Cookout, an international food court and digital art installation takes place on August 23-24, 2014.
