Nick Cannon is donating his custom-made $2 million Tom Ford shoes to a New York hospital in an act of charity.
The 34-year-old star had a pair of Tom Ford loafers covered in diamonds earlier this year and showed them off during the America's Got Talent finale in September.
Jewel expert Jason Arasheben decorated the footwear, which carries more than 14,000 full-cut round white diamonds set onto white gold and boast a weight of 340 carats.
As they wait to be reviewed by the Guinness Book of World Records for the title of Most Expensive Shoes in the World, WWD reports Nick is donating them to St. Mary's Hospital for Children in Queens, New York.
This will allow the facility to auction off the shoes and gain all proceeds to use towards equipment and any other causes.
Jason spent over 2,000 hours working on them and they took almost a year to finish. Speaking before their debut on TV, the jewellery specialist shared how he hoped the audience would react.
"I'm expecting a 'wow' factor for tonight," he told WWD last month. "Not very often do I get a request for the most expensive shoes in the world. When Nick approached me last year, he said he wanted to make history and be so over the top. He wanted to set a new standard in diamonds. 'How can we make the most expensive pair of shoes in the world and make this finale special?' he asked me."
Speaking at the beginning of the year, before his split from spouse Mariah Carey, Nick admitted he always has to be one step ahead of the trends.
"You know my style has to be next level. Even though my gear is crazy, and my wife's gear is crazy, my kids probably have better style than the both of us. We kind of dictate off of what they wear," he told Bleu magazine.
