Following the announcement of nominees for the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, sections of the public raised concerns over the absence of music duo DopeNation from the list, particularly in major categories like Most Popular Song, despite their consistent run of hit releases within the year under review.
Addressing the concerns, Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse, organisers of the awards, explained in an interview on Hitz FM on March 16, 2026, that the duo did not submit their works for consideration.
According to him, while the scheme requires artistes or their representatives to file nominations, the board made efforts to reach out to DopeNation. However, those attempts did not yield any response from the group or their team.
He further disclosed that although there had been some issues involving the duo and the organisers in the past, discussions were held and both sides parted on good terms, with the expectation that everything had been resolved. Despite that, the group once again did not file for nominations in 2026.

Robert Klah added that the organisers are equally as interested as the public in finding out why the duo did not file for nominations or chose not to be involved with the scheme.
“As much as you want to find out why, I’m also interested in finding out why. These guys are extremely talented, giving us banging songs. When I’m even doing my dance awards, they’re some of the key people I try to engage in that particular space because they give us the songs that bring the dance vibes,” he said.
The organisers announced the nominees for the 27th edition of the awards on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards remains the biggest and most anticipated music awards event in the country, celebrating outstanding achievements in Ghanaian music across multiple genres.
Organised annually by Charterhouse, the scheme honours artistes, producers, songwriters, and other industry players whose works have made significant impact within the eligibility period.
