The Group of the Year category, absent from the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards nominees list released earlier, is expected to be announced later this week.
Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse, Robert Klah, disclosed this during a discussion on Hitz FM on March 31, 2026.
“It will be announced this week. It could even be today,” he said.
He explained that the Group of the Year category is part of a few categories that are yet to be released.
“The Group of the Year category has not been cancelled. I never announced that it has been cancelled. What I said was that there were some categories we had not released and those categories will be released,” he said.

He further noted that, in addition to Group of the Year, categories such as 'African Song and Music for Good' will also be announced.
“Music for Good, we usually announce it later, but we are going to announce it early because we want people to understand what happens in that space. So if you announce it early, then people will see that these are the works that have been done. It can inspire people to use their music to do good,” he noted.
Addressing the delay, he stated that there are several factors behind it, although not all can be disclosed.
“There are quite a number of things; I may not be able to share. I understand that for the media you are interested in information, but then again, it is not everything that you would want to share. But the reality is that we did announce that some of the categories that were not announced would be announced later,” he added.
