NPP Chairman in trouble over ‘loose talk’

SB Kangberee SB Kangberee

Upper West Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Mr SB Kangberee, has come under intense criticism by National Democratic Congress(NDC) in the region for stating that the NDC Member of Parliament(MP) for Daffiama Bussie Issa Constituency, Dr Sebastian Sandaare could die or be out of Parliament due to some form of incapacitation.

At a press conference, addressed by Puo-Ire Prosper, the Regional Communication Officer, the NDC called on the Regional Chairman to withdraw his comments and apologise unreservedly.

The NDC further stated that he would be held responsible if any harm or misfortune befalls the MP. The party cited the recent killing of the Constituency chairman by unknown assailants as a point of reference that should guard against any “recklessness” on the part of the NPP.

“Mr. SB Kangberee in his usual loosed disposition went ahead to insinuate that, the current occupant of the DBI seat in Parliament (Hon. Dr. Sebastian Sandaare) can die any moment soon or could be incapacitated for that seat to be declared vacant.

The NDC in the Region takes a very serious exception at such measure of recklessness from a front figure of Mr.S.B. Kangberee’s caliber as he is expected to know better and act responsibly.

We condemn such recklessness in no uncertain terms and wish to draw the belligerent NPP Chairman’s attention to the fact that, the NDC painfully lost our hard-working Constituency Chairman of that same Constituency a few months ago in very bizarre circumstances…

We put it to him that, his loosed talk constitutes a substantial threat to the life of Hon. Dr. Sebastian Sandaare. As a party, we are calling on Mr. SB Kangberee to come out with a contrite heart, withdraw such recklessness and profusely apologize for same,” the NDC stated.

The party then called on the security agencies to be on the alert over the matter: “We are calling on the law enforcement agencies to lift up their professionalism and intensify surveillance on Mr. S.B Kangberee and his assigns.”
