The Electoral Commisson (EC) has cleared independent candidate Nii Noi Nortey and four others to contest for the Klottey Korle constituency seat in the December 7 Parliamentary election.

Six people picked the nomination forms but five were able to file their forms.

Sadly, the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP)’s Parliamentary candidate for the area, Eva Lokko, was unable to submit her nomination forms as she died last week in the USA while receiving medical care.

The other cleared candidates are Philip Addison of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Zenator Rawlings of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Opare Addo of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) and Rockson Kofi Bright of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP).

The Klottey Korle constituency will be one of the centres of attraction during the election as the poll is expected to keenly contested between the popular Nii Noi Nortey who broke away from the NPP, Dr Zenator Rawlings who is the daughter of the former President of Ghana who has endeared herself to the constituents, and Lawyer Philip Addison whose popularity soared after he led the largest opposition NPP in the historic election petition at the Supreme Court in 2013.
