President John Mahama has stated emphatically that all his ministers have declared their assets.

According to him, information of the comprehensive asset declaration of his appointees is on his desk at the Presidency.

Ghana’s laws make it mandatory for all public officials to declare their assets upon appointment through the public service structure or an executive authority.

Speaking to State-owned Twin City Radio in Takoradi in the Western region Monday, Mr. Mahama dismissed claims that he feels pressured to further deepen transparency in his government as a result of the public display of presidential transparency by Nigeria’s Muhammadu Buhari.

“I don’t feel pressured. In fact Nigeria is now catching up. Our asset declaration law has been in place since, and all our public officials are mandated to declare their asset.

“As I understand, all my ministers have filed their assets with the Auditor General, they have all filed, and it is confirmed,” he stated.

On the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, the President said he believes that people must have a “say” in the election of their executives.
