Council of churches committed to peace

Dormaa-Ahenkro Local Council of Churches has asked Ghanaians to avoid acts that could jeopardize peace in Election 2012.

The Reverend Felix John Yeboah, chairman of the Council told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Dormaa-Ahenkro that the Council, aside offering prayers for the nation would engage other stakeholders to ensure peace before, during and after Election 2012.

He said that the Council’s commitment to peace was in furtherance with the existing church-state collaboration aimed at enhancing peaceful co-existence, as a pre-requisite for social, economic and religious development.

Rev. Yeboah urged all identifiable organisations to make the message of peace an integral part of their programmes between now and December 2012.

He commended the Dormaahene Traditional Council for supporting peace initiatives and urged other bodies to follow the example.**
