NDC Ablekuma South celebrates 20th anniversary

Mr. Fritz Baffour, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South and Minister of Information, has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was united and working very hard towards winning the 2012 election.

He said there was no disunity in the party “we are a human institution and misunderstandings were bound to happen but we are one party with a common goal.”

Mr. Baffour made this observation during the NDC Ablekuma South Constituency 20th anniversary rally in Accra.

He said the party after 20 years had achieved so much and Ghanaians would attest to it that since it came to power three and half years ago it had achieved a lot.

The Minister said 20 years is no mean achievement and that in the coming decades the party should be seen as united, focused and positive minded for the development of the nation.

Mr. Baffour urged party members to remain calm and avoid any provocation from the opposition in order to maintain peace during the upcoming election.

Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, a staff of the Office of the President and Parliamentary Candidate for Odododiodoo Constituency, said the 20th anniversary of the party was also a time to reflect and think about how the party would move forward and make the generation unborn very happy and proud.

He said “as a party, it is important for us to remain united and stand firm in order to win the upcoming election and subsequent ones.”

“As party members, we need to sacrifice a lot for the party and make sure the party remains in power forever.”

Mr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, Metropolitan Chief Executive of Accra, said all Ghanaians should be grateful to the NDC for the democracy enjoyed over the years and the massive development chalked within the past three and half years of its governance.

He said the Better Ghana Agenda has led to developments in all constituencies across the country, the provision of quality and affordable healthcare, free basic education, the abolition of the shift system in Accra and improved infrastructure.

Dr. Mustapha Ahmed, Deputy Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, urged party members to use their minds, not weapons to fight the battle in the upcoming elections, saying "we should all be vigilant in our decision during the 2012 polls and vote wisely for the NDC to retain power".**
