Kwabena Adjei calls for peace and calm in NDC

Dr Kwabena Adjei, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) calling for unity of purpose to ensure a resounding victory in the December Polls, appealed for an end to agitations and demonstrations within the Party.

He also urged party members, faithfuls and sympathizers to avoid what has become known as the “skirt and blouse” voting and throw their weight behind both their Presidential Candidate, Professor John Evans Atta Mills and their respective Parliamentary Candidates.

Under “skirt and blouse” voting, a voter votes for a presidential candidate of one party and votes for the parliamentary candidate of another party.

Dr Adjei made the appeal at a Greater Accra Regional Rally of the Party, held at Mantse Agbonaa, at James Town in Accra.

The rally, which was addressed also by President John Atta Mills and other party stalwarts, begins a series of similar ones to be held by the NDC in the march towards a resounding electoral victory.

Dr Adjei said the Party was taking measures to address the apparent conflicts in the party because it was worrying.

He gave the assurance that everything possible was being done to satisfy “ the heart’s desires” of the NDC faithful.

Alhaji Huudu Yahya, Vice Chairperson of the Party, said the NDC, as an “umbrella party” welcomed everybody into its fold.

He called on all branch executives to work together and harder to win more people to the side of the NDC, and ensure that nobody left the party

Alhaji Yahya stressed that events at the party’s primaries should be put behind, and work together for the party to win in a ‘one touch’ mode.

He, with other speakers, urged the people to endeavour to register when the Voter’s Register opens on March 24 to be able to vote in December.

The NDC Vice Chairman asked party agents not to print any Challenge Forms because the Electoral Commission would do that.

Muslim women, Alhaji Yahya said, would also be allowed to register wearing their veils, but would have to make their ears visible when their photos are being taken.

Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Mr Kobena Ade Coker, described the rally ground as a ‘home’ of the NDC Candidate for the Odododiodioo Constituency, Nii Lante Vanderpuye.

Mr Coker urged all NDC faithful, party members and sympathizers to sound the achievements of the Mills Administration to win more voters to the side of the NDC.

He said in nearby Dansoman, there had been significant improvement in road infrastructure, including the construction of a dual carriage way, making movement easier.

He said the Government had also erased the shift system, which had increased contact hours between teachers and pupils; and had remove schools under trees.

Mr Coker said President Mills deserved a second term to continue with the development he had started.

At the rally, Mr Jonathan Tackie-Komme, and Mr Walid Anyetei, who lost the primary to Nii Vanderpuye, pledged their support for the Candidate.**
