PPP Ready to Govern Ghana

The Progressive People’s Party PPP says it is ready to win the 2012 general elections and govern Ghana in a manner that guarantees the rapid development of the country.

“On Saturday the 25th of February, we will give Ghanaians the wake up call and tell them that our country faces a fundamental choice of moving forward or falling further behind and settling for mediocrity, depending on how they vote in this year’s general elections” says William Dowokpor, aspiring PPP Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in the Greater Accra region.

He was speaking to constituency executives ahead of the party’s first national convention scheduled for Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium. He said the convention will provide the party with the opportunity to showcase its true character as a national party when about 3500 delegates gather for the formal launch of the party.

William Dowokpor said the emergence of the PPP on the political scene is a most fortunate development in Ghanaian politics as majority of citizens who are tired of the old order of governance would have the opportunity to elect the alternative that will bring freshness to Ghanaian politics without disturbing the constitutionality of the forth republican dispensation.

“We will give every Ghanaian who has something to contribute to the rapid advancement of our country the opportunity to do so. So we are about to demonstrate that when we welcome our brothers and sisters from all over the country with open arms, as well as introduce the youth who have just turned 18 and who will be voting for the first, time to the alternative party that will guarantee them a great future” he said.

Expressing further confidence in the party’s ability to win the 2012 elections, the PPP aspirant said, the party will light a perpetual flame of democracy and good governance contained in its simple political platform, that will help it attain political power to stop the decay in governance and restore hope and confidence to the people of Ghana.

“We are offering Ghanaians a new hope through capable stewardship that will break the back of poverty and prevent it from recurring in our land. Saturday therefore marks the beginning of a journey that will lead to good stewardship, evidenced in the implementation of progressive policies like free compulsory continuous education up to senior high level for all Ghanaian children, as well as quality health care for all as a fundamental right and not a privilege” he said.

William Dowokpor said there was a new wind of change that required that Ghanaians change direction in which they have voted over the years to stop the NDC and NPP duopoly.
