NDC is working to unite groups within it fold 96 Dr Adjei

Accra, Oct. 10, GNA - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairma= n's Office says it is deeply concern about the happenings within the party and called for calm as efforts are being made to addressed them. Dr Kwabena Adjei, the NDC's Chairman in a statement signed by him an= d copied to the Ghana News Agency on Sunday said his silence over the perceived squabbles in the party was deliberate, since in a situation of political volatility, silence is a golden tool to calm down nerves. He said he believed a significant portion of the young people in the party were not feeling comfortable enough about the perceived squabbles, an= d noted that unity and tolerance were always the price worth paying to achiev= e harmony.

Dr Adjei reminded the party faithful that the NDC was founded on the virtues of selflessness and hard work, service with dedication, accountability and Good governance. The NDC Government, he said, was 93steadily rescuing the country from the economic intensive care unit that it found herself in period before the NDC won power in December 2008 by stabilising the economy. "Without any doubt the indicators are looking pretty good indeed,"= Dr Adjei stated. "Today Ghanaians feel socially and politically safe and more secure than before, crime prevalence has gone down significantly. There is brighte= r hope for a future of better of Ghana for all Ghanaians than before," he noted.

Dr Adjei said the teething problems identified in the NDC were being critically looked at behind the scenes by the National Executive of the party to unite all groups within its fold. e Dr D "We take this as a serious project since our very existence and endurance progress and survival of our great nation depend on our ability and sacrifice to unite and create a harmonious environment," he said. What the NDC needs now, he said, was for all members of the family remain calm, patient and united in the collective effort to fight for victory in the 2012 general elections. The National Chairman appealed to the NDC rank and file to trust the leadership of the party in its onerous efforts to fulfil their aspirations. He said, as a democratic party, the NDC always welcomed divergent view= s because the concept of power to the people meant allowing the people to be critical but constructive in pointing out what was going wrong and contributing to what would propel them forward. Dr Adjei said therefore demonstrations and protests were not the effective weapons of addressing grievances and other party problems. He said people might have their differences of opinion as individuals and as political and social groupings but their commitment to the long term national interest must over-ride sectional interest.
