MCE picks nomination form for the Tarkwa Nsueam seat

Tarkwa Sept. 11,GNA-Mrs. Christina Kobinah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Tarkwa Nsueam Assembly, on Thursday picked a nomination form at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency office in Tarkwa to contest the local Parliamentary primaries. The MCE dressed in all white, received a rousing welcome from delegates who had gathered at the party's office.

Mr. Steven Ayombisa, the Constituency secretary, informed the MCE that in addition to 122 people endorsing his nomination form, female contenders in the primaries are expected to pay a filing fee of 1,000 cedis in banker's draft as against 2,000 Ghana cedis for their male competitors.

He said Mrs. Kobinah has to return her nomination form to the NDC national headquarters in Accra by September 16.

According to Mr. Ayombisa, the primaries should not bring division among party members and charged the MCE,s campaign team to tell delegates what the NDC has done because the party would only retain power on the strength of its achievement.

Mrs. Kobinah said the current Member of Parliament of Tarkwa Nsueam, Mrs. Gifty Eugenia Kusi, has gone for the third term hence the need for her to rest so that she (Mrs Kobinah) would take up the mantle and fight for more projects for the constituency.

She called on party members to put aside any political differences and work assiduously to enable the NDC win power come 2012.

Mrs. Kobinah asked all those who have had access to the MASLOC loans to pay promptly to enable others benefit from it.

The MCEs joins two others, Mr. Steven Antwi, a contractor, and Mr. Joseph Otchere, a businessman, in the race for the party's ticket.
