The Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has provided the latest update regarding the arrest and detention of the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Ohene Kwame Frimpong.

According to him, OK Frimpong has failed in two attempts to secure bail in the Netherlands, where he remains in custody pending an extradition hearing scheduled for November 18, 2026.

He made this known on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, during a briefing session by parliamentary leaders on expectations for the meeting ahead of the first day of sitting following its resumption.

“Regarding my colleague, OK Frimpong, the update is that we have failed to secure bail for him in respect of the two applications that were brought before the court or the tribunal, so to speak, and so he's still in Amsterdam, in custody, barring any unforeseen circumstances,” he said.

Dafeamekpor also dismissed reports that the Asante Akyem North MP had already been taken to the United States, explaining that the extradition process was still before the Dutch court.

“So he's not been taken to the US as has been alleged. No, we are still going through the rigours of the judicial process, which will start on November 18,” he stated.

The November 18 hearing is expected to determine whether Frimpong should be extradited to the United States over the allegations against him.

Dafeamekpor appealed to Ghanaians to remember the lawmaker in their prayers, expressing hope that the proceedings would go in his favour and allow him to return to Ghana.

“You should all remember us in prayers, so that the hearing goes well, so that he can return and continue with his work,” he added.

He said further updates would be communicated after the hearing and any subsequent proceedings.
