John Paul Semevor, a businessman and philanthropist contesting for the position of Deputy Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region, has pledged to strengthen grassroots participation and improve communication between party members and regional leadership.
He said his ambition is to bridge the communication gap between the regional executives and members at the constituency and branch levels to ensure their concerns are addressed promptly.
Speaking to journalists after filing his nomination, Semevor said his engagements across the region's 18 constituencies revealed a strong desire among party members for better access to leadership and quicker responses to their challenges.
“I’m for the grassroots, and I’m coming here to create an avenue for them, if they need someone to listen to them,” he said.
Semavor, who is number 4 on the ballot paper, assured delegates that his leadership would prioritise accessibility, adding that party members should have someone at the regional level who would listen to their concerns and work towards resolving them without unnecessary delays.
According to him, the concerns of party members are not limited to the constituency level but extend to the various branches, making it necessary for the regional administration to establish effective channels of communication.
Semevor said his background in business and entrepreneurship has equipped him with the organisational, administrative and financial management skills required for the position.
He explained that the Deputy Regional Secretary's role requires a strong understanding of party structures, office administration, bookkeeping and business management to ensure the effective running of the party's affairs.
“The deputy secretary position involves the party structures. You need to get the party structures right,” he said, adding that his experience in running a hospitality business and other enterprises would be valuable to the party.
Semevor expressed confidence that his professional experience, combined with his commitment to serving party members, made him a suitable candidate for the position.
