The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has opened registration for prospective parliamentary candidates (PCs) ahead of the party’s parliamentary selection process.
The party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Koduah, said the registration portal would be open from November 1 to November 10, 2026, for individuals interested in contesting on the NPP ticket in the 2028 general election.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, October 29, 2026, Koduah explained that the exercise was the first step towards opening nominations and would allow the party to assess prospective candidates’ eligibility under its constitution and the laws of Ghana.
“What this simply means is that the party will, from November 1 to November 10, open our portal for any interested person who wants to be nominated to stand on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party,” he said.
He clarified that the declaration of interest exercise did not amount to the opening of nominations and did not give prospective candidates the right to campaign in their respective constituencies.
“We have told you we are not opening nominations. We have not asked people to go round to campaign. This is just a first step towards the process of opening nominations,” he stated.
Koduah added that applicants would be required to pay a registration fee of GH¢5,000 to complete the process.
He further indicated that the party would assess prospective parliamentary candidates to ensure they met the requirements outlined in the NPP’s constitution and the country’s laws.
As part of the preparatory process, the NPP has scheduled training and capacity-building workshops for prospective parliamentary aspirants across three zones of the country.

According to Koduah, the workshops will take place in December 2026, with the country divided into northern, middle and southern zones.
The first workshop is scheduled for December 1 to 4, followed by the northern zone workshop from December 8 to 11. The southern zone workshop will take place from December 15 to 18.
He said the arrangements formed part of the party’s preparations for its parliamentary candidate selection process.
Koduah urged interested party members to take note of the timelines and complete the declaration of interest process within the stipulated period.
He said the announcement was intended to inform the party’s rank and file and all individuals interested in contesting as NPP parliamentary candidates.
