Dr Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, spokesperson for former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has reacted to the alleged plot to exterminate the NPP chairman in prison.

Speaking exclusively to GhanaWeb on October 28, 2026, Dr Palgrave Boakye-Danquah said the alleged plot had been reported to prison authorities, who had since moved the five individuals to another cell pending investigations.

Narrating the incident, he said Wontumi told him about the alleged plot during a conversation at court on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, when he appeared for a hearing in the Tano Nimiri case.

“He mentioned to me that after I visited him on Saturday and I left, there was a group of people, about five of them, who were somewhere plotting that they would poison him. Someone heard it and then came to inform him,” he said.

Dr Boakye-Danquah said he contacted the officer in charge (OIC) of the prison to find out whether the matter had been reported.

He said the officer confirmed receiving the report and told him that the five people had been moved to another cell while the matter was being investigated.

“So, I asked him if he had informed the authorities, and he said yes. I went further to check with the OIC. I called the OIC to find out from him if he had heard the issue, and he said yes, and those five people have been moved to another cell pending investigations into the matter,” he detailed.
