Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has announced her intention to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the constituency.
In a statement dated Thursday, October 22, 2026, the former legislator said her decision followed extensive consultations with party leadership, executives and other stakeholders, as well as considerable personal reflection.
She said she would formally present herself for consideration as the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Dome-Kwabenya when the party announces the timetable and guidelines for its parliamentary primaries.
“After considerable reflection, extensive consultation and broad-based engagement with party leadership and executives and guided by my own conviction and unwavering loyalty to the principles and values of our political tradition,
"I formally announce my intention to once again present myself for consideration as the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency,” she stated.
Safo acknowledged that she had previously indicated her intention to pursue opportunities outside Dome-Kwabenya but said further reflection had convinced her of the importance of continuing to represent the constituency.
She described serving the people of Dome-Kwabenya in Parliament as a significant responsibility, citing the constituency’s population of more than 200,000 people and her enduring relationship with its residents.
“Upon deeper reflection, I have come to appreciate that there is no greater honour or responsibility than serving and representing the interests and aspirations of the over two hundred thousand constituents of our beloved constituency in Parliament,” she said.
According to her, the decision was driven by her commitment to the constituency and her belief that she still had more to contribute to its development.
Safo also pointed to her 12 years of service as a Member of Parliament, during which she said she worked with residents, party members, community leaders, religious leaders and other stakeholders to address developmental challenges in the constituency.
