Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpandai Constituency, Matthew Nyindam has revealed that former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko was initially reluctant to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairmanship but decided to enter the race after receiving calls from some party members urging him to do so.

Speaking on Asempa FM Eko Si Sen, Nyindam said party members believe Agyarko’s leadership is needed to help address the internal challenges confronting the NPP.

“Boakye was not ready, but the call from us made him consider standing for the NPP chairmanship,” he stated.

Hon Nyindam said Agyarko’s decision to contest is driven by a desire to unite the party, restore discipline, and position the NPP to win the 2028 general election.

“Boakye’s idea is to come together to unite the party, bring discipline into the party, and help bring victory for the party in 2028,” he said.

He further endorsed Justin Frimpong Kodua for the General Secretary position, arguing that an Agyarko-Kodua leadership partnership could provide the transformation he believes the NPP needs.

“The partnership between these two will bring the transformation,” Nyindam stated.
