Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary aspirant for the Akatsi South Constituency, William Kpormatsi, has welcomed the reported abolition of the party's delegates system, describing the development as a significant milestone in strengthening internal democracy while stressing that branch executives remain central to the party's organizational structure and systems

Kpormatsi, who contested the NDC parliamentary primaries in Akatsi South, shared his views in a Facebook post, where he maintained that although the delegates system has been abolished, branch executives will continue to play a critical role in sustaining the party's grassroots structures.

"The delegates system is abolished, but we still need branch executives for stronger political structures and systems. We commend Professor Frimpong Boateng, Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, Dr Christine Amoako-Nuama and Lawyer Vorke-Vormawor. A new dawn of democracy for Parliamentary and Presidential Primaries."

According to him, the abolition of the delegates system marks a new chapter in the NDC's internal democratic processes and is expected to broaden participation in the selection of parliamentary and presidential candidates.

He also commended Professor Frimpong Boateng, Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, Dr. Christine Amoako-Nuama and Lawyer Oliver Vorke-Wormavor for their contributions to the constitutional review process, which he believes has paved the way for the reforms.

Kpormatsi further emphasised that despite the changes, branch executives remain indispensable to the party's growth, noting that strong grassroots leadership is essential for effective mobilization, organization, and the long-term sustainability of the NDC.

The comments come amid growing discussions among party members following proposed constitutional reforms expected to reshape the NDC's internal electoral system ahead of future parliamentary and presidential primaries.

Kpormatsi, who is also a financial and economic development analyst has over the years, championed issues relating to party welfare, education and grassroots development within the Akatsi South Constituency.
