The Deputy Central Regional Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abeiku Essien, has declared his intention to contest for the position of Central Regional Youth Organizer ahead of the party's internal elections.

In a declaration of intent, the aspiring regional executive said the NDC's victory in the 2024 general election demonstrated the decisive role young people play in determining the electoral fortunes of political parties.

According to Abeiku Essien, "the party's success in the 2028 elections will once again depend largely on the active participation and commitment of the youth, stressing that the NDC needs leaders who understand the aspirations of young people, listen to them, and serve with humility, integrity and courage."

He said his decision to contest is backed by years of service within the party's youth wing, having served as TEIN Hostel Coordinator at Takoradi Technical University, Acting Branch Youth Organizer at Gomoa Maim, Constituency Youth Organizer for Gomoa West and currently as Deputy Central Regional Youth Organizer.

Reflecting on his experience, he said those leadership roles had reinforced his belief that unity, discipline, and collective purpose remain the greatest strengths of any political movement.

He credited the efforts of a united youth front in Gomoa West with helping the NDC unseat an incumbent Member of Parliament and retain the constituency in two consecutive elections.

He also noted that the commitment of young party members across the Central Region contributed significantly to the NDC securing 18 parliamentary seats in the region.

The aspiring Regional Youth Organizer said the experiences had shaped his leadership philosophy, which he summarized in three principles: leadership is about moving people forward, leadership is built on integrity, and leadership requires the courage to act.

Outlining his vision for the youth wing, he pledged to strengthen youth structures across the region, empower Constituency and Branch Youth Organizers, deepen the influence of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN), create more opportunities for leadership and skills development, and ensure that every young party member has a voice in shaping the future of the NDC.

"I have served at every level. I have listened. I have learned. I have delivered. And, by the grace of God, I am ready to serve our region with renewed energy, unity, and purpose," he stated.
