Spokesperson for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In a video shared on social media on July 12, 2026, announcing his decision, Aboagye said his ambition was driven by a desire to rebuild the party’s communication structures and position the NPP for a return to power.

“I’m running because I know we’re coming back,” he said, adding that the party needs a Communications Director who will go beyond responding to issues and instead build a strong communication system capable of shaping public discourse.

He said his vision was to create an organisation that equips and leads communicators across all constituencies to effectively promote the party’s message ahead of the next election cycle.

He stressed the need for a communications structure that would remind Ghanaians of the reasons they previously trusted the NPP and restore confidence in the party’s leadership and policies.

“I’m not running for a title. I’m running for this party’s future,” he stated, dedicating his bid to party supporters, including citizens seeking better governance and communicators who have worked to advance the NPP’s agenda.

Miracles Aboagye said his decision was also aimed at supporting party communicators who, according to him, deserve an organisation that recognises and strengthens their efforts.

His declaration adds to preparations within the NPP as the party moves towards its national executive elections following its defeat in the 2024 general election.

The National Communications Director position is one of the key roles responsible for coordinating the party’s communication strategy, media engagements, and public messaging.
