A leading New Patriotic Party (NPP) figure in Afigya Sekyere East, Barima Sarpong, has called on aspirants, delegates and supporters to prioritise peace and unity as the party heads into its Constituency Executive Elections on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

In a statement issued on Saturday, July 11, 2026, he praised the aspirants who have thrown their hats into the ring, describing their decision to contest as an act of courage and patriotism.

He said the elections should not be viewed as a contest between individuals but as an opportunity to strengthen the party's structures and reaffirm its core values.

Sarpong called for the elections to be peaceful, free, fair and transparent, urging all stakeholders to respect the Elections Committee and accept the verdict of the delegates.

“I therefore call on all delegates, supporters, and aspirants to conduct themselves with the utmost maturity, discipline, and respect before, during, and after the elections,” the statement read.

He also called for unity immediately after the results are declared, urging party members to avoid factionalism, bitterness and division, while keeping their focus on winning the 2028 general election.

He warned against insults and misinformation, urging members to debate issues and ideas rather than attack personalities.

“We must reject insults, misinformation, and acts that have the potential to undermine the unity, dignity, and reputation of our great party,” he said.

Sarpong reminded aspirants that leadership is not only about winning a position. Whether they win or lose, he said, their contributions to the development of Afigya Sekyere East remain valuable.

He expressed confidence that unity and hard work would ensure the Afigya Sekyere East NPP branch remains a model constituency in the Ashanti Region and across the country.

He concluded by appealing for peaceful elections for the benefit of the party, the constituency and Ghana as a whole.

The vote forms part of the NPP’s nationwide exercise to elect new grassroots executives ahead of the 2028 general election.
