The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has warned that the party could take strong action if what it describes as continued harassment and intimidation of its members is not addressed.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, during a courtesy call by the NPP on the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Salam Mustapha said the party would not remain silent while its members are allegedly being targeted.
“We will make this country very ungovernable for them, and trust me when the NPP says we'll react, we'll react, because we are not a small political party. If for nothing at all, in the last election, over 4 million people voted for us, and if you come to our database, we know we have numbers. And if this nonsense doesn't stop, we will weaponize our support base, and we will make this country extremely ungovernable for them,” he stated.

He further urged the government to ensure the release of the party's Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, widely known as Abronye, warning that the party would react strongly if anything untoward happens to him while in custody.
“We are sending this warning and caution to government; release Abronye. Otherwise, should anything happen to Abronye in custody, you will have us to contend with,” Salam Mustapha said.
The comments come after Abronye was remanded for two weeks over alleged false statements about a Circuit Court judge.
