According to the charge sheet filed by the Office of the Attorney General, Wontumi and a co-accused, Thomas Antwi-Boasiako, who is currently at large, allegedly obtained GH¢14,302,000 from EXIM Bank in 2018 by false pretences.

Prosecutors further allege that Chairman Wontumi used a forged receipt, knowingly presented as genuine, to secure an additional GH¢4 million from the bank.

Court documents indicate that the document was submitted to EXIM Bank officials as proof of payment in support of the transaction.

On the money laundering charge, the prosecution claims that between 2018 and 2022, Chairman Wontumi took possession of part of the GH¢14.302 million disbursed to Wontumi Farms Limited, allegedly knowing the funds were proceeds of fraudulent activity.
