Former Deputy Minister of Defence cum former Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North, Major Derek Oduro, has publicly declared his support for Bernard Antwi Boasiako in his bid to become the next National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party.

Speaking in a video circulating on social media, Major Oduro praised Chairman Wontumi for what he described as his active efforts to rebuild and reorganise the party following its electoral defeat.

According to him, many party executives have remained inactive since the elections, while Chairman Wontumi has consistently engaged party members across the country.

“Most party executives, you don’t meet them in their offices,” he stated.

He further commended the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP for taking steps to unite the party's grassroots during a difficult period for the party.

“Since we lost the elections, Chairman Wontumi has been the only person going round trying to put the party together, and you think we as members of the party are not watching? We are watching,” he said.

Chairman Wontumi, widely regarded as one of the influential figures within the party, has officially declared his intention to contest the national chairman position.
