According to the statement, the decision to outsource the campaign team follows “an extensive nationwide consultative engagement”, which the camp said has positioned Chairman Wontumi strongly among the leading contenders in the race.
The newly assembled team brings together a mix of experienced politicians, former ministers, Members of Parliament, party communicators and grassroots mobilisers, reflecting what the campaign describes as the growing confidence in Wontumi’s leadership within the NPP.
Leading the campaign as Chairman is former Majority Chief Whip and former Sunyani East MP, Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, while former Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture and former New Edubiase MP, George Boahen Oduro, has been named Campaign Manager.
The team also includes prominent figures within the party such as George Mireku Duker, Stephen Amoah, Sarah Adwoa Safo, Moses Anim and Justina Marigold Assan.
Others named in the campaign structure include former Ablekuma North MP Akua Afriyie and former government spokesperson on governance and security, Palgrave Boakye-Danquah.
Beyond the high-profile political figures, the campaign team also features operatives tasked with media engagement, electoral affairs, welfare, women's mobilisation, security coordination, and grassroots mobilisation across the middle, northern, and coastal belts of the country.
In the release, Chairman Wontumi expressed confidence in the team’s ability to lead what he described as a “disciplined, issue-driven, and successful campaign.”
He noted that the composition of the team reflects “unity, inclusiveness, and growing grassroots confidence” in his vision for the future of the NPP.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman also reiterated his broader vision for the governing party, stressing that his campaign would focus heavily on strengthening party structures and reconnecting with supporters at the grassroots level.
“He reiterated his commitment to a campaign anchored on party unity, organisational strengthening, grassroots mobilisation, and the broader objective of repositioning the New Patriotic Party for victory in the 2028 general elections,” the statement said.
