A leading member of the former Ashanti Regional executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Nsenyire, has called on the party’s National Executives to formally engage former executives with a clear mandate to support the party’s reorganisation and unity-building efforts.

According to him, former executives remain relevant and ready to play active roles to help strengthen internal cohesion and reposition the party for future electoral success.

Nsenyire made the call after he, together with some former executives, paid a courtesy visit to Hon Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh at his office in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Nsenyire paid glowing tribute to the NPP’s 2024 Vice-Presidential Candidate, praising him for what he described as exceptional commitment to the welfare of party members.

“Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh paid for the medical bills of many members when he met us prior to the presidential primaries.

Beyond that, he has consistently supported the welfare needs of many of our members,” Nsenyire stated.

He disclosed that, in appreciation of his continuous support and leadership, the former executives have requested Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh to serve as their patron — a request he said was warmly accepted.

Nsenyire added that the group has also conferred on him the title “Obi Dom Bie”, signifying their recognition of his generosity and support for members.

He further noted that former executives are now part of the party’s delegate structure, explaining that this was a proposal championed by Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh and some party leaders, which was later approved by the party’s Congress.

“We are grateful to him and the party leadership for recognising the continued value former executives bring to the party,” he said.

Nsenyire also urged all former campaign teams across various internal party camps to dissolve their structures and come together in the interest of unity.

“As elders of the party, we can help bring all factions together so we can focus on our common political opponent and work collectively towards returning the party to power,” he said.
