The National Democratic Congress(NDC) is demanding answers from the Electoral Commission(EC) over the latter's decision to compile a new voter's register ahead of 2020 elections.
According to the party, the compilation of the new register ought to be tabled out properly for thorough discussions by all stakeholders.
Addressing the media at the Party's headquarters, the General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said it was important for the EC to justify the need for a new voters register.
"We will need to be told what is essentially wrong with the current register and what changes are needed to right the wrongs in the register. The current register has been 8 years since it was prepared. Has it lasted long enough?"
Meanwhile, the NDC is calling on the EC to immediately render a public apology for the outright misrepresentation on IPAC's purported decision on the compilation of a new voters register.
According to them, there is a grand scheme by the Commission to deliberately disenfranchise qualified potential voters.
