The First Vice Chairman of the NPP in Okaikwei Central, Alhaji Harruna Rafik, reported that he was violently attacked by masked men shortly after attending a mediation meeting regarding polling station elections.

The incident occurred immediately after a meeting chaired by the Greater Accra Regional Secretary at the residence of MP Patrick Yaw Boamah, as reported by adomonline.com on May 11, 2026.

Rafik stated that the meeting was convened to address a petition he submitted concerning alleged irregularities in the constituency’s polling station elections.

“About seven masked men attacked me as soon as I stepped out of the meeting venue,” he claimed in a statement, noting that the attack happened in the presence of several constituency executives and right in front of the MP’s residence.

He emphasised that his “only crime” was speaking out against irregularities and advocating for transparency, fairness, and due process in the elections.

Rafik suffered injuries during the assault and is currently receiving treatment at the Lapaz Community Hospital.

He has reported the incident to the police.

“Intimidation and violence will not silence me in defending what I believe to be the integrity of the party,” he stated, urging regional and national NPP leadership, as well as security agencies, to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.
