Kwasi Kwarteng, spokesperson for the presidential campaign of Kennedy Agyapong, has addressed concerns over his omission from the newly constituted Standing and Sector Committees of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, although some party supporters and political observers have suggested that his exclusion may be linked to his support for Kennedy Agyapong during the party’s internal contest, he does not share that view.

Speaking in an interview on Angel TV on May 11, 2026, Kwasi Kwarteng stated that he is not worried about being left out of the committees and believes those appointed are competent enough to serve the party effectively.

“I have heard a lot of people asking why I was not added to the committee. Sometimes when I look at some of the committees, even though I may not agree with everything, I believe those selected are capable,” he said.

He further disclosed that persons affiliated with Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team had earlier been contacted to submit names for possible appointments within the party structure.

“I was contacted and informed that those of us who worked for Ken should submit our list because they wanted to give us something to do. So, it was all part of the same discussion,” he explained.

Kwasi Kwarteng added that he does not believe one must necessarily hold an official position before contributing meaningfully to the growth and success of the party.

“I do not see it as having to hold a position before I can work for the party,” he stressed.

“The bottom line is that people should not be disappointed over my absence because myself I am not,” he added.

Meanwhile, the NPP has officially constituted its Standing and Sector Committees following a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee and National Council held on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

In a statement dated May 8, 2026, the party explained that the Standing Committees were constituted pursuant to Article 10(2)(6) of the party’s constitution, while the Sector Committees were formed in accordance with Articles 10(3)(8) and 14(5).

The committees are expected to play key roles in shaping the party’s strategy, policy direction, communication, and preparations ahead of future political activities.

The newly constituted committees include the Finance Committee, Electoral Affairs Committee, Disciplinary Committee, Policy Committee, Organisational Committee, Research Committee, and Foreign Policy Committee, among others. Each of the sector committees is made up of at least five members.
