Mfantseman Chief commends President

..for MP's elevation
Saltpond, May 3, GNA - Traditional rulers in the Mfantseman District have expressed their gratitude to President John Agyekum Kufuor for elevating Mr. Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, to the status of a Minister. Speaking on behalf of the five Paramount Chiefs in the District after a meeting at Saltpond, Okese Essandoh VIII, the Omanhene of Nkusukum Traditional Area described the appointment as an honour not only to Mr. Asamoah-Boateng, MP for Mfansteman West, but to the people of the entire District.

The President in a cabinet reshuffle last week elevated Mr. Asamoah-Boateng, who was the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City, to the position of Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Environment.

Okese Essandoh hinted that the traditional rulers were planning to meet the President to show their appreciation for the honour. He gave the promise that they would support the President and the Minister with prayers and counselling to enable them to perform their functions with distinction.

They urged Mr. Asamoah-Boateng to work hard for the President not to regret appointing him.

Mr. Robert Quainoo-Arthur, District Chief Executive, expressed his joy over the appointment and assured the Minister of his support and cooperation to maintain the cordial relationship between them. 3 May 06
