The Ashanti Regional Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been hit with the shocking death of Miss Abigail Boateng, a former President of the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON) at the Garden City University College (GCUC).
Miss Boateng until her unfortunate death yesterday, October 4, served the party in various capacities and fronts upon rising to prominence as the polling station Women organizer in the Suame Constituency. As a leader, her formidable presence and involvement in student politics inspired and influenced a lot of young ladies to develop an interest in active politics.
Tributes have started pouring in from the national and local executives of the party, praising her affable, dedicated and industrious nature which shot her into prominence in the party and serving on various portfolios within the youth branch of the party.
The Acting Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer, Dennis Kwakwa in confirming the news to Mypurefmonline.com described the revelation as traumatizing, eulogizing and recounting his interaction with her last week.
"Evans, we are all hurt. This death is sudden, shocking and very devastating. It aches my heart to the core personally because she championed #TeamKwakwa more than anyone I have worked with. I was with Abigail last week devising plans on consolidating the Women’s wing in the party and especially the Suame constituency. This is sad.”
In eulogizing her, Dennis Kwakwa remarked that “as a student leader, Abigail never morphed into the dreaded arrogant prima donna. She always kept a cool, calm, humble and affable disposition to the admiration of everyone she came into contact with.
As a Polling Station Executive at the Suame Constituency, she combined student/youth activism and grassroots activism to wonderful effect.
Her rather short political career has produced innumerable memorable moments of an industrious and vibrant young political activist, and anyone with whom she has served the party has a couple of them which seems emblematic.
Abigail is gone, but she will forever be remembered for her selfless zealous service to the party in the region and beyond. May God bless the soul of this faithful young patriot. Team Kwakwa and the Youth Wing of the party will forever miss her.”
Details of what led to her demise remain sketchy. We will keep readers updated on this issue.
