CPP deserves better performance in national polls - Nduom

r Paa Kwesi Nduom, the 2008 presidential candidate of Convention Peoples' Party (CPP) on Friday, assured that he would work 'enthusiastically' for the party to win the upcoming general elections in 2012.

"We are exploring means to get all Nkrumaists on board and you will see a much more vibrant CPP in 2012", he said.

He however warned party members to be wary of some in their fold who claim to believe in the ideals of the CPP but leave it after elections. He stressed that what the party needed was a disciplined, unity minded and team players, who would work without conditions to promote its vision.

Dr Nduom was briefing a section of the media at Elmina, as part of his tour to the Central Region, where he met members of the "friends of Nduom".

He urged delegates to ensure they elect people who are ready to work with everybody in the party to propel its agenda of having more members in parliament and consequently winning the presidential seat.

The CPP, he said, was not prepared to secure about one percent of votes cast during general elections in the country and was therefore strategizing to enhance that abysmal performance.

Dr Nduom assured victory in the next general elections and added that his focus will be on the development of the youth in the party.

“Consequently, all leaders as well as supporters should get on board to collectively evolve measures that will ensure resounding victory, come 2012, since the CPP was a party that has all it takes to rule the country better than what is currently prevailing,” he said.

Dr Nduom called on all well meaning CPP members on the fence to help with their expertise to build a formidable party that would win the confidence of the electorate.

He appealed to members of "The Friends of Nduom", whom he said would be his coordinators, to be circumspect and ensure transparency at all levels. He urged that in the party should be given an equal chance to contest any position since the CPP believes in internal democracy.
