Ministry of Trade releases funds for construction of craft shed

Nkawie (Ash), Oct 7, GNA - The Ministry of Trade, Industry and the President's Special Initiative has released 865 million cedis to the Atwima District Assembly to build a craft shed for kente weavers at Anwiafutu.

Mr Charles Yeboah, the District Chief Executive, said the assembly would undertake three viable projects under the Rural Enterprise Development Project.

He said the projects involved the cultivation and processing of ginger at Gyankobaa, the cultivation and processing of cassava into chips and the production and processing of poultry feed for poultry farmers.

Addressing a meeting of the Atwima District Assembly at Nkawie, Mr Yeboah said the assembly has completed some projects at the cost of 1 billion cedis from the first instalment of the HIPC fund. The DCE said projects undertaken with the fund included the building of a four-unit teachers' bungalow at Abasua, a block of three classrooms at Nkontomire and the construction of a 12-seat public place of convenience at Akropong.

He said the provision of 50 boreholes for the various communities was on course and that 70 KVIP toilets would be constructed for households in the area.

Mr Yeboah said the assembly had moulded 148 concrete electricity poles to be distributed to communities to support the rural electrification project.

He said the assembly was supporting the Ntobroso Weighing Centre, building a block of two classrooms at Adobewura, a block of three classrooms each at Achiase, Akorabuokrom and Barekese, the construction of a market at Hiawu-Besease and a JSS block at Asamang.
