SSB loss pushes index down

Accra, Dec. 22, GNA - The SSB Bank lost 1,000 cedis during Monday's trading on the Ghana Stock Exchange to pull down the GSE-All Share Index, the benchmark measure of the Accra Bourse, by 23.4 points. The Index closed down at 3,440.64 points from 3,464.04 points, bringing the change for the year to date at 146.59 points. Total shares traded slumped to 35,100 from 64,100 at the previous close on Friday.

On the broader market, there were five price changes - four positive and a negative.

Ghana Commercial Bank went up 11 cedis at 8,111 cedis, Guinness Ghana Limited gained four cedis at 5,505 cedis, Home Finance Company gained 96 cedis at 3,650 cedis and Unilever Ghana Limited made four cedis at 14,040 cedis.

The only loser for the period was SSB Bank, which shed 1,000 cedis to close at 19,000 cedis.

Market capitalisation dropped in response to SSB's loss at 12,331.93 billion cedis from 12,391.03 billion at Friday's close.
