Newmont to conclude modalities this week

Accra, Dec. 15, GNA - Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, Ghana's newest gold mining company, would this week conclude modalities for an investment agreement with the Government of Ghana. The agreement is to open the door formally for Newmont to start mining operations in its concessions in the Brong Ahafo and Eastern Regions.
Ms Mawuena Dumor, Communications Director of Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, told the Ghana News Agency, Business Desk in Accra on Monday that Mr Wayne Murdy, Chairman and Chief Executive of Newmont would arrive in the country by Wednesday with three other Vice-Presidents of the company for the signing of the agreement.
"We deem the event as a major development and a milestone in our operations. It is an exciting time since the arrival of Newmont on the Ghanaian mining industry will contribute significantly to a transformation and introduction of new impetus."
Mr Murdy, she said, would hold meetings with President John Agyekum Kufuor, state officials, chiefs and their communities.
