Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital gets new elevators

Captain Anthony Cudjoe (rtd), the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Sekondi-Takoradi has inaugurated the newly refurbished elevators at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.

He handed over the facilities worth 180,000 Euros to the management of the hospital during a short ceremony at the hospital’s premises on Friday.

He said the Ministry of Health sought the technical assistance of the CFAO Equipment, a French lift fixing Specialist Company, to fix the dysfunctional elevators that had not been working for the past six years.

Captain Cudjoe said government is committed towards providing the region with infrastructural development and gave the assurance that the region would get its fair share of the national cake.

He said a new regional hospital complex would soon be established at Agona Nkwanta in the Ahanta West District and help enhance health care delivery in the region.

Captain Cudjoe commended the nurses and staff of the hospital for their hard work in carrying patients and pregnant women in labour from the ground floor to the fourth floor for treatment and delivery.

He appealed to the management of the hospital to keep a routine maintenance of the facility.

Dr. Paul Nkwaw Ntodi, the Medical Director of the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital, expressed his delight with the fixing of the elevator and pledged to ensure that it is well maintained.

He appealed to government and other corporate bodies to support renovation works in other parts of the hospital and help ensure quality health care delivery.

Dr. Ntodi called for the new regional hospital complex to be built in earnest and help reduce the burden of patients.

The Regional Director for CFAO Equipment, Mr. Paul Van Den Broeck, said the company would provide free maintenance of the lifts for six months with one-year guarantee period.**
