Accra bourse continues slide

Accra, March 16, GNA - The GSE All-Share Index, the benchmark measure of performance of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), lost 22.17 points in trading on Monday as bearish sentiments continue to dominate the market. The index closed the session down at 9,662.42 points from 9,684.59 points on account of price losses in five equities. Change for the year also fell to -7.37 per cent. Market capitalisation dropped to GH¢18,338.27 from GH¢18.354.39 million at the previous close. Traded volumes, however, rallied to nearly 1.2 million shares thanks to a block trade in the shares of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), which alone sold over 1.1 million shares. There were five price changes, all negative. Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) lost GH¢0.02 at GH¢0.48; State Insurance Company (SIC) lost GH¢0.01 at GH¢0.39; Unilever Ghana Limited (UNIL) was down by GH¢0.10 at GH¢3.50; and Enterprise Insurance Company was down by GH¢0.02 at GH¢2.95 and UT Financial Services also went down by GH¢0.01 at GH¢0.28.
