Ghanaian-German Economic Association visits Germany

Accra, May 15, GNA - A delegation of the Ghanaian-German Economic Association (GGEA) has completed a week-long visit to North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany during which members had business-to-business contacts with German companies.

A statement signed by Mr Stephen Antwi, President of GGEA, said the 10-member delegation was exposed to new trends in cable manufacturing, renewable energy technologies at the Hannover Messe and later attended the African Energy Conference organized by the Afrika Verein. It said in Cologne, DEG Invest, which provided finance services for companies in developing countries to upgrade their operating capacities, offered information about their finance schemes for Ghanaian industries. "It is expected that some of the participants would be able to secure favourable financial facilities as a result of their proposals," the statement said.

At the D=FCsseldorf Messe, members of the delegation established individual contacts with companies such as K=F6rber Medipak, Groninger, IMA, Marchesini and Bosch.

The statement said an important part of the mission was to create a facility for workers from Ghanaian companies to undergo attachment programmes to improve their competencies and technological know-how. The delegation visited Fa Vaillant where their training facilities provided them with perspectives to the German vocation training system. It said workers of Ghanaian companies would be posted to companies in North Rhine-Westphalia as soon as protocols were finalised. 15 May 08
