The government through the Energy Ministry has reconnected the Prampram Cold Store Limited to the national grid.

The seven-million-euro facility has been abandoned for over three years due to accumulated electricity debt.

However, upon a petition to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, he directed the Energy Ministry to address the challenges of the fisherfolk.

At an inspection of the facility today, Friday, 20 March 2020, Energy Minister John Peter Amewu said the move is part of the government's commitment to the wellbeing of the fishing community and also to ensure that sustainable jobs are created.

He, however, charged management of the facility to ensure strict adherence to energy efficient protocols.

For his part, Chairman of the Interim management committee of the facility, Joseph Nii Armah Quaye thanked the president for the gesture and promised an efficient running of the facility to serve fisherfolk not only in Prampram but the entire Greater Accra region.
