Micro credit agency supports small businesses

Sunyani, Sept. 7, GNA - The Sunyani branch of 'Sinapi Aba Trust', a micro-credit agency, says it has disbursed about seven billion cedis in loans between January and August this year to help boost the businesses of its clients in the municipality.

Mr. Kwesi Brempong, branch supervisor, told Ghana News Agency in an interview that the beneficiaries included artisans, petty traders, manufacturers, shoemakers, hairdressers and dressmakers.

Mr. Brempong said the micro-credit scheme was being run in all 10 regions in the country and appealed to interested persons in viable ventures to apply for membership.

The Agency has another office in Techiman Municipality, Mr. Brempong said, adding that its outreach and sensitisation programmes had enabled prospective beneficiaries to form groups in several communities in the Brong Ahafo region.

They include Nsoatre, Dumasua, Fiapre, Kato, Berekum, Namasua, Wamfie and Wamanafo.

Others are Dormaa-Ahenkro, Adentia/Kwatire, Odumase, Abesim, Tanoso, Yamfo, Duayaw-Nkwanta, Bechem, Techimantia and Goaso. Mr. Brempong said the agency was in the process of forming groups in Tepa in the Ashanti Region.
