The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Volta Region has been adjudged the best in customer care in the country.

Mr Delali Klu, General Manager of the Company in the Region who made this known at an engagement with the media said a nationwide survey of the Company’s operations placed the VOLTA first, both in the year 2018, and 2019.

The General Manager dedicated the recognition to the media in the Region, saying their relationship with the Company “bore lots of fruits and results”, and hoped that the support would continue into the years ahead.

Mr Klu said the public education must be sustained, and urged the public to “reciprocate” by paying bills promptly and shunning illegalities, the latter which he said remained a major source of the Company’s losses.

He said although the Region was not known for illegalities and power theft, a monitoring exercise, of prepaid meters in the Ho Municipality uncovered lots of such acts.

Mr Klu said whiles the Company endeavored to wrestle illegalities, the media must lend their shoulders to the wheel, and help intensify education and sensitisation to get the public away from such activities.

“We need your support in getting the information across to as many as possible so that together we can help to reduce this incidences of illegalities and theft of power which remain a major source of loses as a company.

“It’s in our own collective interest to ensure that these illegalities are reduced to the barest minimum”, he said.

The General Manager said seven per cent of monies recovered from entities that stole power would be paid to informants and whistle blowers, and called for public support.

He assured the Region of the best service in terms of stable power supply, especially during the yuletide and again thanked the media for supporting all aspects of its operations.
