Local Government Ministry earmarks Christmas hawking markets

To ensure safe Christmas buying and selling activities, the Ministry of Local Government in collaboration with the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), has earmarked some areas to serve as ‘Street Hawking Markets.’

A statement issued and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the directive would take effect from Monday, December 16, 2019 to Wednesday January 1, 2020 between the hours of 0500 and 2300 each day.

The street hawking markets under the Accra Metropolitan Assembly are; ‘Station Road’, ‘Kimberly Avenue’, ‘Granville Avenue’, ‘Commercial Street (Drug Lane)’, and ‘Clement Papafio Street’, all in Okaishie.

In the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly, the areas are ‘Nkulenu Roads’, roads in front of old Assembly Office and the ‘Asante and Asante Road’ in Madina.

The market area in the Ayawaso West Municipal is the ‘Garden Road’ in East Legon.

In the Adentan Municipal Assembly, the market areas are the ‘Adentan Shopping Mall’ and ‘Ogbojo Market’.

Markets areas earmarked for the “Ashaiman” Municipal Assembly are the ‘Ashaiman main market street to Lebene junction’, ‘Doku-Pinto Street’ and ‘Government School Street’.

In the “Okaikwei North” Municipal Assembly, the double outer lane from Fraga Oil to Abrantie Spot in Lapaz and the Abeka junction, Achimota Station (Neoplan – Yaa Densua) are the earmarked market areas.
