Vanguard Assurance bent on promoting children's welfare

Accra, Feb 15, GNA-Vanguard Assurance Company Limited (VACL), an insurance company, has pledged its preparedness to promote the welfare of children in the country.

Nana Awua Darko, chairman of the company said, to fulfil this pledge, VACL is to adopt some of the infrastructure at the Princess Marie Louise Hospital, popularly known as the Children's Hospital, to ensure that it has adequate facilities to cater for its patients.

Nana Darko made the pledge when the company presented a cheque for 20 million cedis to the hospital in Accra, as part of activities marking its 30th anniversary celebrations.

He re-stated that VACL has made a similar donation of the same amount to the Otumfuo Educational Endowment Fund.

Mr Mahama Baba, Chief Executive Officer of the company who presented the cheque to the Children's Hospital, recounted that for the past years, VACL has assisted the authorities to maintain facilities at the hospital.

The Reverend Father Andrew Campbell, Chairman of the Board of Management of the Hospital received the cheque.

He thanked the company for the gesture, and lauded it for its continuous assistance to the hospital, in the form of the organisation of annual Christmas parties for patients, and the institution of awards scheme for deserving staff.

Rev. Fr. Campbell intimated that the hospital would soon launch activities for its 80th anniversary celebrations to be held next year.
