Some ten selected start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the ongoing Media General Start-up and Funding Summit in Kumasi will in the coming days benefit from the Micro Finance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC).

This was announced Saturday, May 18, in Kumasi during the funding summit session of the three-day event staged to help start-ups exhibit their products and services, make sales and network for future benefits.

Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC, Stephen Amoah, while making the announcement commended the Media General group for its commitment to helping start-ups grow.

He pledged his outfit will allocate 200,000 cedis to support 10 selected start-ups that have subscribed to the event.

This comes a day after the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly expressed its readiness to partner Media General in growing small and medium scaled enterprises in Ghana.

The 3-day event has seen over 90 small businesses converged at the Kumasi City Mall to showcase what they sell while taking advantage of the open market to make sales, while learning how to source funding for expansion.

According to Mr. Amoah, MASLOC under his administration has received GH?75 million from the government, 80% percent of which he said was disbursed to women.

He advised entrepreneurs to plan their businesses in order to survive and grow.

Brands and corporate communications manager of Quick Angels, Veronica Ofosuhemaa Owusu-Ansah, said her company is positioned to help start-ups.

Meanwhile, zonal head, payroll unit at Bond Savings and Loans Plc, Prince Totten, assured the start-ups and SMEs of specialized service.
