Mcdan CEO promises northern youth jobs

Chief Executive Officer of the McDan Group of Companies, Gubgbaa-Naa Daniel McKorley has reaffirmed his pledge to create job opportunities for the youth of Northern Region.

According to the accomplished Ghanaian business mogul, his ultimate goal is to help government reduce the unemployment ratio which continues to heighten poverty levels in the Northern Region.

The Gubgbaa-Naa made the pledge when he paid a courtesy call on the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sae-ed at the Regional Coordinating Council.

He said investing in education, youth employment and agriculture remained his group of companies major priority.

He maintained that a lot should be done to empower the youth of Northern Region to be productive.

"We will take the youth out of the street and give them jobs. I am a Chief in the Northern Region and I must support my people especially the youth to succeed in life."

"I have personally taken up the challenge to help alleviate the plight of young graduates through the establishment of the Mcdan Challenge competition."

Education

The Gubgbaa-Naa McKorley said the McDan Foundation is to build more classroom blocks as means of assisting government to eliminate schools under trees.

He promised to build a modern school for Yaa-Naa Abukari Mahama II at a location of his choice.

Agriculture

The Gubgbaa-Naa Daniel McKorley decried the importation of tomatoes from neighbouring Burkina Faso and said it would soon be a thing of the past.

According to him, his group of companies is beginning with the cultivation of 5,000 acres of tomatoes in the Northern Region.

This in his estimation would be upscaled to other parts of the north to feed the nation and for export.

"We are taking agriculture to the next level. About 400 to 500 women would be engaged on the farmlands."

The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sae-ed commended the Gubgbaa-Naa Daniel McKorley for his for visionary leadership.

He said the region needed people of his kind to support government's development agenda.

Salifu Sae-ed urged the McDan group of companies CEO to permanently set up in the Northern Region.

Sports

He unveiled his group of companies' plan to set up a boxing training centre in Tamale.

The main aim is to scout for Amateur boxers and train them to be professionals.

According to the Gubgbaa-Naa, the first boxing competition is scheduled for Tuesday March 5 in Tamale.

He said the identified best boxers would be sent to America and Europe.

Visit

The Gubgbaa-Naa Daniel McKorley is on a tour of the Northern and Upper East Regions specifically to inaugurate a classroom block at Teong, a community in the Garu-Tempane district of the Upper East Region.

He is to also to participate in Ghana's 62nd Independence Anniversary in Tamale at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

A large convoy comprising motorcycle riders and businessmen escorted the Gubgbaa-Naa and his entourage from the Airport into the Tamale Township.

Gubgbaa-Naa's enskinment

The McDan group of companies CEO was enskinned as Gubgbaa-Naa (Unity Chief) in Tamale.

The late Chief of Tamale, Naa Dakpema Mohammed Dawuni Alhassan gave him the honour in recognition of his love for the youth of Northern Region.

Family relations, friends, sympathizers and well wishers from home and abroad were there.

As part of his visit, the Gubgbaa-Naa Daniel McKorley visited the Dakpema Palace were the late Naa Dakpema Mohammed Dawuni Alhassan's funeral service is underway.
