Textile workers give government one month ultimatum to end piracy

The Coalition of Ghana Textiles Workers Friday demonstrated through some principal streets of the capital to drum home the need for government to expand the mandate of the anti-Textile Piracy Taskforce to go to the market and seize all pirated textiles.

According to the group, meetings with authorities have yielded no results.

They have therefore given government a month's ultimatum to respond to their plight.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Textiles, Garment and Leather Workers Union, Abraham Koomson, told Radio Ghana's George Ankrah that series of engagements with the Ministry of Trade has yielded no positive results.

Mr. Koomson said the union has proposed to the Ministry how the issue could be solved.
