The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), has confirmed a partnership with Appolonia City to construct an industrial park within the 2,325-acre master-planned urban development.

The agreement which was signed today during a brief ceremony in Accra, is expected to include the usage of about 1,000 acres of Appolonia City which is to be made available for some of the country’s topmost industrial and manufacturing companies and in turn provide major employment opportunities for the area.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AGI, Seth Twum Akwaboah during the ceremony, said the agreement is a way of contributing to government's drive to establish multi-purpose industrial parks in each of the regions in Ghana and anticipated a growth in economic and industrial activities.

“Signing this agreement aligns with the governments drive to establish multi-purpose industrial parks in each of the 10 regions of Ghana. We believe Appolonia City is an ideal location and the creation of this park will provide industrial growth, spreading economic activities within Greater Accra and beyond”, he mentioned.

The partnership which begun during the tenure of the immediate past President of AGI, James Asare-Adjei, now the Chancellor of Heritage Christian College, will primarily serve as a hub for businesses which will have the luxury of being in a monitored and secured environment.

“AGI is recognized as the leading representative of Ghana’s private sector. Our partnership with AGI means that businesses will now have a dedicated base for operations within a controlled and secure environment. We have the appropriate infrastructure at Appolonia City, and we are able to develop build-to-suit structures for industrial tenants,” CEO of Appolonia City, Bright Owusu-Amofah explained.

AGI Vice President in charge of SMEs, Humphrey Ayim-Darke who announced the partnership at the ceremony expressed great confidence and joy in the initiative and said he was "truly excited to see how far this initiative of an industrial park in Appolonia has come. It is a privilege to join our colleagues from Appolonia to put together this said project."

Appolonia City which has a capacity of about 941 hectares has been identified with top class construction and estate management services and a significant member of the AGI, a voluntary business association of about 2,000 members from various sectors in the economy.
